At the moment, all my screenwriters are busy but the work requests keep flowing in. One new client needs a writer capable of creating a feature-length comedy, so I ran an ad in the Los Angeles Craigslist under gigs offered. I noted that writers can be located anywhere in the USA. And I said send samples of your work. I also warned to avoid misspellings, punctuation errors, etc. I posted the ad last night. So far, sixteen hours later, I've received 62 responses. Those with grammatical goofs got deleted, as did those who did not send samples. You can find great talent via Craigslist; I know that for a fact. I haven't yet begun looking at the samples but I have read all the emails, including this one:

I am very interested in your project and would like the opportunity to impress. I have had several projects produced in the comedy genre. They are listed on my IMDB credits....

I have attached a couple of screenplays for your evaluation and entertainment. I would need to write remotely as I do my best work writing in the buff.

In the buff? At a desk? What do you want to bet he saw the recent movie about famed (and blacklisted) screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (who apparently did much of his writing while soaking in a bathtub)? If you'd like to see it, it is excellent and the film's name is: "Trumbo." I bought it on Blu-ray disc. I don't yet know whether I'll like Rick's work, but he definitely got my attention.
