I’ve dealt with my fair share of hosting companies since I went live on the internet in 1999. As you can expect, some were exceptional, most were unremarkable and some were terrible. On top of the usual distribution of quality, Newfold Digital, which is owned by Clearlake Capital Group, has bought up some 80 hosting companies and is continuing to buy. I’ve heard reports of declining customer service as a result.

Among the big names now under the Newfold Digital umbrella are: BlueHost, DomainHost, HostGator, HostNine, SiteBuilder, Verio and WebsiteBuilder. They also own NetworkSolutions, Web.com, Domain.com, Yoast and BuyDomains. Declining customer service is a good reason to avoid any company. When it was time to leave my last hosting outfit, I went looking for a price-competitive host with excellent and immediate support service. That’s when I found InMotionHosting.co m.

I actually grilled the sales rep about support and the qualifications of those answering the phone. The reason is, sometimes when bad things happen, site owners need it fixed immediately. My last hosting company, UltaHost, it turned out, had chat and phone support but all they would so is notify other support people, who would get back to me later by email. That was unsatisfactory.

InMotionHosting is a family-owned business, is quite affordable, and has the best support I’ve seen in ages. Those who handle chat or phone calls are seriously qualified. I’ve had to contact them a few times, and they immediately dig into the problem and solve it. They don’t just pass a note to someone else. I’ve been incredibly impressed.
